The animals in this book are all real, as are their stories. The names of the people have been changed to protect their privacy. Fact or fiction? Well, dogs can’t talk, can they?

Wow this book is absolutely amazing. I wish I could give it more stars. I laughed and cried, felt despair and uplifted, sad and happy, in fact there were few emotions it did not stimulate but the overall message (for me) was one of overcoming adversary. The book is written through the eyes and words of Dan a rescue dog and so it appealed to me as a dog lover and as someone who has seen the neglect and abuse meted out to some dogs in many countries. It also deals with abuse, violence and overcoming cancer but in a way that shows the strength that people can call on in adversary. The book takes you on a journey through several European countries and is a bit of a roller coaster ride not just through countries but through emotional states. The book is very well written and manages to convey pain and suffering but in a way that gives you a lot of hope and often with humour. I loved the way the book is simply but beautifully written. This was one of the rare books I have read where you cannot stop reading it but at the same time do not want it to end. I would highly recommend this book as one of the best I have read.

Just finished this book – and am just in pieces!! I have laughed, cried (out loud and in public!!), I feel like I have travelled the world, and to the depths of despair and heights of joy!! This is a story of a little dog, and the people he loved. Told in a uniquely simple but captivating way. A great read for anyone who has ever loved animals, anyone who loves adventure, and anyone who knows life can be unpredictable. I can not recommend it highly enough!!!
